Firefighting operations across West Kalimantan continued as of Saturday (18 August). Some of the affected regions where fire have been extinguished are now ablaze again. Pontianak Manggala Agni Regional Operation Chief Irawan Malik said on Saturday that they needed artificial rain to douse the fire, as ground personnel and waterbombing aircraft are considered ineffective. Meanwhile, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Head Willem Rampangilei said that the discussion on artificial rain will be held on Tuesday.
