Struggling to fight for palm oil industry

Bisnis Indonesia, 2 November 2018

Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution during the 14th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) 2018 in Bali on Thursday (November 1) said he couldn’t understand the negative campaigns against Indonesian crude palm oil (CPO), which continued to heighten. He argued that the government has been encouraging palm oil industry players to prioritize Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification since 2011. The European Union’s plan to include CPO as a high-risk vegetable oil is merely their trade strategy to protect sunflower oil and rapeseed oil producers in the region, he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Chair Joko Supriyono said the negative campaigns may disrupt CPO exports performance.
