The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is currently reviewing its principles and criteria. The review is part of RSPO’s five-year cycle. However, RSPO Director Tiur Rumondang was reluctant to reveal which points will be emphasized in the new principles and criteria. He only said that the RSPO will make its principles and criteria clearer so that auditors can assess the company’s capability and capacity. Meanwhile, GAR Sustainability and Strategic Stakeholder Engagement Managing Director Agus Purnomo explained on Sunday (August 19) that RSPO-certified companies must perform annual audit in regard to their compliance with RSPO’s principles and criteria. He also mentioned that GAR is ready to comply with the new principles and criteria.
