The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) on Thursday (29/8) opened submissions for the inaugural RSPO Excellence Awards 2019 that honors excellence in five areas.
“For the very first time, we are giving our valued members the opportunity to receive due recognition for their significant contributions in helping us in our shared journey towards making sustainable palm oil the norm,” RSPO CEO Datuk Darrel Webber said on the organization’s official website.
The submission period will close on October 10, 2019, and judges will review them between October 11-31 so that winners can be announced on November 3, 2019.
Webber said that applications were open in five award categories: Human Rights and Labour Initiative; Conservation Leadership; Smallholder Impact Program; Community Impact; and Outstanding Achievement.
“We are excited to celebrate and pay tribute to members who have gone above and beyond the stringent RSPO standards for sustainable palm oil production,” Webber said.
Award winners will be selected by an independent multidisciplinary panel of judges, who are leaders and experts from relevant sectors of the palm oil and/or sustainability industry.
The inaugural RSPO Excellence Awards Night 2019 will be held during the welcome reception of RT17, on 3 November 2019, 6:30 p.m. at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, Thailand.
