The European Union plans to restrict palm oil-based biofuels based on what it claimed as the best available scientific data from 2008 to 2015. Environment and Forestry Ministry Climate Change Control Director General Ruandha Agung Sugardiman told “The Jakarta Post” on Friday (March 22) that the data couldn’t represent the current condition of palm oil in Indonesia. He said that the European Union should not only use the data for their consideration but also have to take into account efforts of the Indonesian government to create a sustainable palm oil industry.
