Speaking at the Asia Pacific Rainforest Summit (APRS) in Yogyakarta, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya said that Indonesia has learned a lot from the past peatland management. Through various experiences, researches, developments, and institutional management, Indonesia’s peatland management has become more focused now. Indonesia is now focusing on conservation and sustainable peat management after the country was able to anticipate forest fires, she said.
