Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo said the government will gradually step up its biofuel program until 100%. He said during the presidential debate in Jakarta on Sunday (February 17) that the program was meant to reduce oil and gas imports. Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Director General Rida Mulyana said Indonesia needs to produce 30 million kiloliters-31 million kiloliters of palm oil to achieve the 100% biodiesel blend (B100).
Meanwhile, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) Trade Affairs Deputy Chair Togar Sitanggang is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve the B100 goal. He told “KONTAN” on Monday (February 18) that Indonesia will become a major biofuel producer in the future if the government pays more attention to biofuel roadmap.
