Palm oil producers seek way to work with locals

The Jakarta Post, 1 March 2018
Businesspeople from the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) are planning to collaborate with locals living around plantations to improve their welfare and reduce inequality. The group met with Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Minister Eko Putro Sandjojo and his staff members to discuss the plan on Tuesday (February 27). GAPKI Agrarian and Spatial Planning Chairman Eddy Martono said the collaboration was important to address the public misconception that palm oil giants expanded their businesses without considering the welfare of the people.
