Palm oil industry plays a significant role in the regional economic development and poverty eradication. However, several obstacles in the field such as pests often disturb palm oil production. Developing a entomology research is deemed necessary for palm oil industry. Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI)-cum-Astra Agro Lestari Vice President for Sustainability Bandung Sahari said that pests hinder oil palm growth and cause productivity to decline. It could lower the income of farmers and threaten local people’s welfare.
