Palm oil is the most productive and efficient compare to other vegetable oils, Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution said during the International Conference on Palm Oil and the Environment (ICOPE) 2018 in Nusa Dua, Bali on Wednesday (April 25). Palm oil can fulfill the rising global demand for vegetable oils. Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food Chairman and CEO Franky Widjaja said that additional global vegetable oils production is projected to reach 200 million tonnes by 2025. To meet the demand, 445 million ha of areas will be needed to produce soybean oil and 290 ha of area for rapeseed oil. On the other hand, palm oil only requires around 40 million ha of area.
