According to the latest data from the Agriculture Ministry Plantation Directorate General in early 2018, the oil palm plantations area in Indonesia has increased by 17.8% to 14.03 million ha from the initial 11.9 million ha. Agriculture Ministry Plantation Director General Bambang said that the ministry has reorganised the data and found that the oil palm plantations area in Indonesia actually reached 14.03 million ha. Of the total area, five million ha are people’s plantations, while the rest belongs to private companies and SOEs.
