The palm oil industry needs to be developed by increasing productivity and added-values on the product. Plantation development through a massive land expansion is against the sustainable development principles. Sinarmas Agribusiness and Food Sustainability and Strategic Stakeholders Engagement Managing Director Agus Purnomo said on Wednesday (5 September) that the application of sustainability principles in the palm oil industry is very important. He explained that the principles are not merely for addressing the market demand, but also for ensuring business sustainability in the future. In addition, Agus said that Sinarmas Agribusiness and Food continues conducting its research and development, such as developing mainstay seeds, to boost their oil palm plantation productivity.
