During a discussion with the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) on Friday (August 24), the Indonesian Episcopal Conference (KWI) stated that the oil palm sector plays an important role in the development of remote regions in Indonesia. Jakarta Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo said that the current condition must continue in order to create equity of welfare in the country. In addition, the KWI hoped that oil palm plantation companies would continue to put a special attention on customary rights, worship facilities, and sustainable plantation principles.
