New markets still difficult to penetrate

Bisnis Indonesia, 28 January 2019

Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Secretary General Kanya Lakhsmi Sidarta said that crude palm oil (CPO) exporters have been trying to enter new markets such as Africa and Middle East. However, they often find difficulties in setting up purchase contract because of the limited number of banks that provide financing service to non-traditional countries, she said on Sunday (January 27). She said that Pakistan is the only prospective export hub for the Middle East and Southern Asia region. Meanwhile, CPO exporters are relying on the hub in the Netherlands to be able to enter Northern Africa.
