Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Forestry Faculty will arrange an academic research providing the basis and proposal to classify oil palm as a forest plant. IPB Forestry Professor Yanto Santoso said that this plan is driven by the urge to enable oil palms to be planted in people’s industrial forests (HTR) and industrial forest (HTI) area. He said yesterday (April 18) that the academic research is important to protect and safeguard the development of palm oil as one of Indonesia’s strategic commodities so as to oppose negative issues on palm oil.
