The Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) is currently looking for an opportunity to establish crude palm oil (CPO) refineries in the Democratic Republic of Congo, one of the largest Indonesian palm oil markets in Africa. GAPKI Executive Director Mukti Sardjono said last week that the investment in DR Congo will create a positive contribution towards the global vegetable oil demand. He explained that establishing CPO refineries in DR Congo is promising, as the country has total population of more than 80 million people. In addition, Mukti said that DR Congo’s strategic location in the middle of the continent can also help Indonesia’s CPO derivative products to enter other neighboring markets in Africa.
