Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) Executive Director Mahendra Siregar said that Malaysian Primary Industry Minister Teresa Kok met with Indonesian Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution in a CPOPC meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia, to discuss about several issues related to the palm oil industry.
During the meeting, which began on Thursday (November 8), CPOPC members agreed to invite other palm oil producing countries to join the council, improve farmers’ productivity and income through proper agricultural practice, accelerate replanting program, encourage obligatory biodiesel blend, promote palm oil-based biodiesel to prospective consumers, tackle negative campaigns against the industry, declare decision to opt out from the European Union’s Indirect Land Use Change, and approve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 principles as the main force to achieve higher sustainability commitment.
