India raises CPO import duty again

Kontan Harian, 15 March 2018
The Indian government has raised the import duty of CPO and its derivatives to 44% and 54%, respectively, although the government has raised the import duty twice last year. Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Joko Supriyono lamented the Indian government’s decision. India is one of the largest CPO export markets for Indonesia. Indonesia’s total CPO export to India reached 31 million tonnes in 2017. He called on the government to find the solution, otherwise Indonesia’s CPO export will continue to weaken.
