India pledges to promote Indonesian CPO

Kompas, 26 March 2019

India has pledged to promote crude palm oil (CPO) as sustainable oil in the country amid various negative campaigns directed towards the commodity. India is the main importer of Indonesia’s CPO with an average of 6.7 million metric tons a year. Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA) of India President Atul Chaturvedi during a visit to the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (IOPRI) in Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday (March 25) said India is concerned about getting high quality palm oil at low price. He said India consumes an average of 9 million metric tons of palm oil every year, 6 million metric tons of which are imported from Indonesia.
