Negotiations of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) are hindered by the EU’s discriminative policy toward Indonesia’s palm oil. Trade Ministry International Trade Negotiation Director General Iman Pambagyo on Monday (March 18) said Indonesia demanded Europe to grant free access to crude palm oil (CPO). However, the EU was reluctant to approve the demand. CPO is a crucial issue for Indonesia because it affects 17 million farmers in the country, he said.
