Pertamina plans to develop palm oil as green fuel by transforming its Plaju and Dumai refineries into biorefinaries over the next three years. The two refineries are being prepared to produce gasoline from 100% crude palm oil (CPO). Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati explained the plan on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the signing of a memorandum of understanding on palm oil-based biofuel management between Pertamina and Italy-based Eni in Rome, Italy, on Wednesday (January 30).
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan told “Bisnis” that the biorefineries might increase domestic CPO consumption and raise CPO price.
