Govt to build tropical peatland research center

The government is refining its plan the build a tropical peatland research center, which is targeted to serve as a learning center for other countries with peatlands. The Environment and Forestry Ministry Research, Development and Innovation Agency plans to build the research center in Bogor, West Java, which is directly connected with the local areas that have experiences in research and forest management based on local wisdoms. It is expected to strengthen partnership in research and development with all parties, including research agencies like the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Environment and Forestry Ministry Research, Development and Innovation Agency Head Agus Justianto said in Makassar, South Sulawesi on Wednesday (April 18).
