The government was deemed successful in preventing forest and land fires over the last two years and is optimising its forest and land fire monitoring ahead of the dry season. The government has agreed with large palm oil companies to be committed to educating villages around oil palm plantations. This effort is necessary to encourage active participation from local people in fire prevention, especially through zero-burning practices, Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution said in Jakarta on the weekend.
