Former people’s plantations prioritised

Koran Sindo, 7 June 2018

The government prioritised the replanting programme for former people’s main plantations (PIR) because the areas no longer have legal status issue. A total of 600,000-ha former PIR areas are now ready to be replanted, Agriculture Ministry Plantation Director General Bambang said in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 5). For people’s plantations located in forest area, the Plantation Directorate General promised to file a request to the Environment and Forestry Ministry to revoke the forest area status.
