South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head Wahyudin said on Sunday (2 September) that land and forest fires had burned 1,476 hectares (ha) of area during the January-September 2018 period. He said that Banjarbaru was the most affected city with 371.6 ha of burned land, followed by Tanah Laut regency (304.1 ha), and Banjar (282.25 ha). He attributed the fires to the long dry season in the province.
