Eased export policy may affect domestic industry

Bisnis Indonesia, 6 February 2019

The government’s policy to revoke surveyor reports (LS) requirements on four commodities might disrupt domestic industry. The policy will take effect on crude palm oil (CPO) and pipeline gas this week. Indonesian Palm Oil Association Chair Joko Supriyono said the policy will not affect CPO exports much because exporters will keep using the LS. He called on the government to redefine the policy because not all exporters of CPO and its derivatives will benefit from the policy despite its purpose of reducing production cost and export duration.
