Domestic palm oil consumption to reach 12 million tonnes

Investor Daily, 14 May 2018

Domestic palm oil consumption is expected to reach 12.76 million tonnes this year, a surge of 15.37% from 11.06 million tonnes in 2017. The surge is being driven by higher palm oil demands for food, specialty fats, oleochemicals, soap noodles and biodiesel. Indonesian Vegetable Oil Refiners Association (GIMNI) Executive Director Sahat Sinaga said that total national crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) production is predicted to reach 46.31 million tonnes in 2018 from 41.98 million tonnes in 2017.
