China’s economic slowdown hinders CPO, coal sales

Bisnis Indonesia, 23 January 2019

Trade Ministry Trade Research and Development Agency Head Kasan Muhri on Tuesday (January 22) said Chinese economic slowdown might hugely affect Indonesia, considering that China contributes 15% to Indonesia’s non-oil and gas export. He said crude palm oil (CPO) and coal exports would be hindered by the slowdown because China’s manufacturing sector is expected to reduce activities this year.

Kasan said the government would step up exports to non-traditional trade partners to deal with the situation. Meanwhile, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) Trade and Sustainability Deputy Chair Togar Sitanggang said China is one of the largest consumers of Indonesia’s biofuel.
