Expansion of the government’s 20% biodiesel blend (B20) policy has started to show positive impact on national palm oil industry. According to the data from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), domestic CPO consumption in September 2018 reached 1.22 million metric tons, a 13.51% increase from August 2018. Domestic biodiesel consumption in September 2018 also increased to 402,000 metric tons, a 39% surge compared to 290,000 metric tons in August.
However, the biodiesel consumption is still deemed low and below target due to infrastructure issues, GAPKI Executive Director Mukti Sardjono said on Wednesday (November 7).
