Accelerate downstream palm oil industry

Bisnis Indonesia, 7 February 2019

Indonesian Vegetable Oil Association (Gimni) Executive Director Sahat Sinaga said Indonesia should increase downstream palm oil products. He suggested the government offer special incentives such as imposing different export levies on crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association (Gapmmi) Chair Adhi S. Lukman on Wednesday (February 6) hoped producers of CPO and its derivatives could develop new value-added products. He said CPO and its derivatives contributed significantly to the food and beverage industry last year. However, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) Executive Director Mukti Sardjono on Wednesday (February 6) denied that the palm oil industry was affecting the food and beverage sector’ performance last year and demanded further research on correlation between them.
