A total of 11 helicopters have been deployed for firefighting operations in South Sumatra and Riau. Two of the helicopters were deployed in Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra, and the remaining nine helicopters in Dumai, Riau. The helicopters are provided not only by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), but also the Environment and Forestry Ministry and Sinar Mas Group. South Sumatra Forest and Land Fire Mitigation Head Ansori said yesterday (July 18) that the firefighting team was focusing on putting out fires affecting 105 ha of land in Cinta Jaya, Pedamaran, and 75 ha of land in Kayu Labu, Pedamaran Timur. The firefighting operations involved one helicopter from BNPB and one from Sinar Mas Group.
